Xbox Live Arcade Gets Meteos Wars

Admittedly, I’m somewhat of a puzzle geek. I grew up playing a lot of Tetris and Dr. Mario, so I know my way around flipping blocks and forming lines. That’s why I was immediately drawn to games like Puzzle Fighter and Hexic HD. Over on the PSP, we had Lumines and then that game hit XBLA in the form of Lumines Live. On the DS, we had Meteos and now that’s coming to the Xbox Live Arcade as well.

Set to launch this Wednesday through Microsoft’s downloadable game channel is Meteos Wars for the Xbox Live Arcade. The gameplay in this title, as you’d imagine, is pretty much the same as the similarly named puzzle game from Q Entertainment that hit up the Nintendo DS so many moons ago. You slide blocks vertically, blasting them into the stratosphere and defeating some bad guy off the top of the screen. It was innovative in that you were not able to move any the blocks horizontally and this restriction made for quite the interesting challenge.

By pushing Meteos Wars to XBLA, Q Entertainment has also expanded the online multiplayer itno whole new realms. Look for this game, as well as PowerUp Forever by Blitz this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points each.
