Xbox 360 Red Rings “A Thing Of The Past”

Hardcore gamers will go for either the Xbox 360 and the PS3. For all the good things about the Wii, it’s clearly designed for casual gamers so it’s probably going to be a second choice console for the serious gaming crowd. Between the X360 and the PS3, the former clearly has an advantage over the other. The library of games available alone is enough to leave Sony’s console in the dust.

The biggest issue that has plagued the Xbox 360 is the red ring of death, the tri-colored broken circle that marks the end of the Microsoft console. Unlike computer BSODs, a reboot will not solve the problem. How are things going now? Has the issue been addressed? Here’s what Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg had to say:

“We’re seeing great performance of the current systems, so we’re really happy with the way they’ve been performing. We’ve put the worst behind us on this, but we know there are a few lagging systems, and so we want to take those and make it right.”

The worst is behind them, he says. That means that while the problem is still ongoing, it’s not as prevalent as before. It’s good news to see that Microsoft has been able to isolate the cause of the problem and, more importantly, has shown that it is taking steps to make amends.
