Xbox 360 Gets Wii / SIXAXIS Control Scheme

<sarcasm> ZOMG! Microsoft copied Nintendo too? What are they going to do next? Create a Zune with dual screens, a microphone, and touchscreen interface? </sarcasm>

Okay, so this product isn’t officially licensed or endorsed by Bill Gates, but it is a sign that everyone — including die-hard Gears of War enthusiasts — want in on this whole motion-sensing craze. The PlayStation 3 is doing it with SIXAXIS and now the Xbox 360 can apparently do it too with the Tiltboard mod.

At this time, you have to order up the kit and install it yourself, but I’m sure a simpler plug-and-play kind of solution will be on the way if this initial release is as popular as the developers hope it will be. Basically, it deactivates the right analog stick and maps all of those controls to the motion sensor. Tilt the X360 controller to the left to mimic pushing the analog stick to the left, and so on. Not exactly useful, but it certainly is interesting.

Look for the Tiltboard to start shipping next week with an asking price of $40 (USD).
