Xbox 360 Arcade To Replace 360 Core
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the Xbox 360 Core isn’t exactly available at retailers anymore, forcing consumers to pick between the Xbox 360 Premium or the Elite. That is, unless you want to fork out the extra bucks to get your hands on the special Halo 3 Edition video game system. In any case, the Core is toast… right?
Well, not exactly. It turns out that Microsoft is building an entry-level replacement for the Core that will be called the Xbox 360 Arcade. No, you don’t get a MAME cabinet out of the deal. Instead, the rumor has the Arcade sporting an HDMI port, wireless controller, 256MB memory card, and a quintet of XBLA games (Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2) on a single disc.
The Xbox 360 Arcade will reportedly launch at the end of this month for US$279.99. Not really sure how that translates to Canuck money, given the recent parity it has achieved with the American greenback.
