WiiSpeak Adds Voice Chat to Wii
Going online with the Nintendo Wii is pretty fun. Trying to find opponents in Smash Bros. can be pretty frustrating, but it is an absolute thrill drifting around corners and tossing red shells in Mario Kart Wii. The biggest part missing from these online experiences, however, is the trash talk. How come we cannot communicate with our online enemies competitors?
Well, it’s happened. Nintendo held its E3 press conference today and one of the major announcements was the introduction of the WiiSpeak. Whereas the Xbox 360 has individual headsets, the WiiSpeak will sit on top of your TV and provide a “group” conversation setup instead. I’m not exactly sure how it will be able to filter out the game sounds, but there you go.
WiiSpeak will be bundled in with Animal Crossing: City Folk. Although we hear that it’s not a MMO in the true sense of the word, the online world of Animal Crossing will continue to evolve and exist even when you’re not there. That’s much the same as previous AC titles, but now there is supposed to be more of an online element.
