Wii Music Tops Charts in Japan

Even though hardcore rhythm game enthusiasts are scoffing at it, Wii Music has become remarkably popular in its home land of Japan. It’s so popular, in fact, that Wii Music happily sits on top of the sales charts in Japan for its first week on the market. Approximately 92,000 copies were sold in its debut week.

Nintendo has done a great job at targeting the casual market, get non-traditional gamers to play their non-traditional games. The same can be said about Wii Sports and Wii Fit. Wii Music is meant to be non-intimidating, unlike some of the harder rhythm games out there. Guitar Hero and Rock Band may be too challenging for mom and dad, but anyone can enjoy Wii Music.

Wii Music launched in North America earlier this week and it’ll be made available to Europeans starting November 14.
