Where Are the Rock Band 2 Instruments?

rb2guitar.jpg

According to the Wikipedia entry, the instrument peripherals for Rock Band 2 were supposed to be made available on the same launch day as the game itself. While Rock Band 2 is not yet available on the Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 3, you can get your hands on the game pretty easily for the Xbox 360. I know my local Future Shop had tons of copies on the shelf.

Strangely, while the game disc is plentiful, the new wireless guitar and drum set are nowhere to be found. I know that the “special edition” of the game — which, like the previous version, includes the game, one guitar, one mic, and a drum set in a giant box — won’t hit retailers until next month, but the individual instruments were supposed to be available for sale. I can even see them in online stores… but they’re not for sale yet. At least, not where I am.

I’ve tried Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Future Shop, GameStop, EB Games, Zeller’s, and other stores and the response is universal. We don’t have them and we don’t know when we’re going to get them. What’s up with that, Harmonix? How can you launch a new rhythm game and expect us to only use last gen’s instruments? That’s well and good for people who already bought the first Rock Band, but what about everyone else? They don’t want to buy RB1 instruments only to upgrade a month later to RB2 instruments.

Have you had any luck finding the wireless guitar and drum set?
