What Else the Wii Fit Could Be Used For

People said that the Nintendo Wii was too much of a gimmick to ultimately enjoy any sort of success in the marketplace. People said that after people got tired of the novelty, they’d ditch the Wii in favor of the PS3 or Xbox 360. They said that Nintendo’s hope to capture casual and non-gamers was little more of a pipedream. Well, when you consider all the different peripherals and accessories that are getting released on the Wii, you start to wonder if all these people are right.

We’ve seen things like the Wii Sports Kit (which is really just a collection of plastic extensions), the Wii Zapper, and the wireless guitar for Guitar Hero III. The next major accessory is going to be the Wii Balance Board, accompanied by Wii Fit. When used in tandem, they’re supposed to help us keep fit, participating in yoga, soccer, and all sorts of — you guessed it — mini-games.

The crew at IGN decided to explore what else the Wii Balance Board could be used for and these “alternate uses” actually sound pretty intriguing. Among those mentioned are Kung Fu, drumming, dancing, skiing, skateboarding, racing, and RPGs. I’d be all over a snowboarding game. Imagine SSX on the Wii Fit Board!
