Warhammer 40,000 Dawn Of War Dark Crusade

One of the secrets that many tried to hide after Dawn of War: Winter Assault was the ending which pointed out what races would be included in the next expansion. Well, now it is public knowledge that in Dark Crusade, the upcoming expansion to the hit real time strategy game will include two more races bringing the total to an amazing seven races.

THQ has said that the next expansion will include the Tau Empire and the Necrons.

Tau

The Tau Empire is governed by the concept that it is only right and noble for the individual to set his own desires aside for the Greater Good of the Empire. This guiding principle has allowed the Tau to flourish by minimizing internal conflict. Unlike most alien races that Humanity has encountered, the Tau are not overtly hostile, though they will fight fiercely to protect those territories they have claimed as their own. The rapid progress of the Tau is pushing them further into occupied areas of the galaxy, and this expansion has inevitably brought them into conflict with Humans and other alien races.

The Necrons are a mysterious race of skeletal warriors that have lain dormant in their stasis-tombs for millions of years. They are ancient beyond reckoning, pre-dating even the Eldar. Yet, they are beginning to awaken, for the galaxy is ripe for harvest.

In combat, the Necrons are unyielding war-machines that bring swift death to their prey. Armed with Gauss weapons that strip an opponent’s molecules one layer at a time, the Necrons have fierce firepower. Also, the Necrons have a remarkable ability to repair themselves, making them an enemy dreaded by all races in the 41st Millennium.

Other additions include new single player campaign centering on the conquest of a “meta-map”, where each territory captured gives tangible rewards to the occupying force, as well as a greatly expanded multiplayer component and a completely unique economy model for the Necrons.

You can expect to see all kinds of details at E3 2006, which is starting up soon.
