Wanted: Stories About Video Game-Induced Violence

If there’s one thing that video games don’t need, it’s more links to real-life violence. The media seems to be on the lookout for stories that relate video games and violence regardless of the perpetrator’s background, well-being and state of mind. If you committed a crime and happened to have a copy of Grand Theft Auto in your pocket, everyone blames the game. CVG reports that there’s a listing for testimonials now, promising profit in exchange for your story on how video games caused you to live a life of crime.
A listing on recruitment site StarNow, a hub for actors and musicians looking for jobs, has appeared reading, “a national newspaper wants your story and will pay hundreds of pounds to the right person”. The listing comes in the wake of last week’s Byron report, which made newspapers nationwide, some with questionable headlines such as ‘computer games get health warnings’. All you have to do to get the newspaper’s cash is “write a few lines about how computer games turned you to crime and if it’s something we like, we’ll call you straight back”. Easy Money.
So if Nintendogs prompted you to somehow train your pet to become a killer pooch, feel free to sign up.
