TMNT: Raising Shell on the Nintendo DS

Remember yesterday when everyone was bashing on TMNT for the Nintendo DS? Despite all that negative press, I took the plunge into the sewers, eliciting the services of four teenage mutant ninja turtles and their mutated rat sensei. I took this elite group of fighters — Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelango, and Splinter — and tossed them into the touching is good handheld gaming machine from Nintendo. What resulted was a lot of fast-paced rooftop jumping and some rather disappointing fighting sequences.

It’s too bad. This was their chance to revitalize the ninja turtles and return TMNT to its former glory. I guess it also makes a huge difference that the old arcade games were created by Ultra Games (Konami), whereas the current home games are made by Ubisoft.

Anyways, here’s a video of the TMNT rooftop jumping action courtesy of yours truly.

A video of a battle scene — it’s straight up button mashing with just the B button being deployed for all fighting moves — is available at Beyond the Rhetoric.
