The Proper Way to Play Fighting Games on the Wii

If you’re looking for a true arcade experience on your Nintendo Wii, then you’ve got to check out the Fighting Stick Wii from Hori. It features a nice-sized joystick that will help you execute those hadoukens with the greatest of ease, as well as all the normal face buttons so you can control the strength of your sonic boom. Based on what we can tell, it should be “better than any US-marketed joystick, if previous Fighting Sticks are any indication.”
What’s more, because we see a “home” button near the top, we believe that the Hori Fighting Stick Wii is not a rebranded Gamecube controller, so it is either completely wireless, taking over the role of a traditional Wii Remote in some way, or it works in tandem with a Wii Remote much like the classic controller. I’m up for either option, especially since I can play Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Fighting the way it was meant to be played.
Set for release on November 6th, the Hori Fighting Stick Wii will be priced at US$49.99. Now the Wii just needs some fighting games beyond what’s the SNES Street Fighter ports found on the Virtual Console.
