The 7 best franchises that suck now
It’s one thing to establish a huge video game franchise that has everyone lusting after your sequels well before you even knew you were working on a follow-up. It’s another thing altogether to maintain that sort of buzz after offering 3, 4, or 6 iterations of the series. Games Radar compiled what they believe to be the seven top franchises that were once the envy of all those around them, but have now suffered a huge fall of grace, making everyone dislike them even more than they loved them in the first place.
The top 7 list reads as thus:
7. Tomb Raider
6. Mega Man
5. Viewtiful Joe
4. Dynasty Warriors
3. Tenchu
2. Spy Hunter
1. Sonic the Hedgehog
Mega Man could easily be much higher up on this list. Who can forget all those classics on the ol’ NES? Or how about when we discovered you could do Ryu’s hadouken? But I have to agree with their number one choice… though I hope that Sonic and the Secret Rings (why couldn’t they just keep the Sonic Wildfire name?) for the Nintendo Wii will revitalize the speedy blue hedgehog after his miserable outing on the Xbox 360, the most recent of a long line of failures following the robot’s NES days.
