Surface Computers & Collectible Card Games

A couple of months ago I covered a story about surface computing, one of the projects Microsoft is working on, in Gadget. Simply put, it’s basically a tabletop computer with a touchscreen interface. While the boys in Redmond tweak the serious side of things, Square Enix and Taito teamed up to create The Wheel of Eternity, an arcade game that mixes surface computing and collectible card games.

The card-based RPG appears to function much in the same way that Bill Gates described Surface’s object recognition properties as working, “sensing” cards which are placed on the game area, and reacting to their status, movement and arrangement.

There’s no word yet on whether the game will hit North American shores. We’ll keep you updated.
