Super Mario Strikers Charged Ships This Week
This is a momentous occasion. Not because everyone’s favorite plumber is hitting the pitch with all of his friends again for a friendly game of soccer (football), but because Super Mario Strikers Charged is the first online game for the Nintendo Wii. At least, for the North American audience.
What you see above is a video review from the guys at Game Trailers. They were pleased with certain components like the breakneck speed and addictive gameplay, but some elements leave a lot to be desired. For example, in order to build up the “charge”, you must pass the ball around to your teammates, finally unleashing that energy with a super powerful shot. Because of this, the title almost turns in a twitch game, rather than a strategic one. The choice of characters is nice, though.
In any case, the Wii is now officially online. No longer will you be restricted to checking the weather, swapping Mii characters, and playing ghetto Java games through the Opera browser. You can actually play a game online with real people!
