Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMO To Be Unveiled

The long-awaited Knights of the Old Republic MMO is going to be revealed later this month. Here’s the scoop:

The long-awaited online Star Wars – perhaps the games industry’s worst kept secret – is being developed by BioWare Austin, which has been tinkering away behind the scenes on the title for over two years.

In case you were wondering, this isn’t the first time that an MMO based on Star Wars is going to be released. In fact, the other one is still ongoing: Star Wars Galaxies. You have to wonder how the two games are going to co-exist. Given the nature of competition, it’s unlikely that we’ll have two Star Wars MMOs for long.

As the name implies, KOTOR is set thousands of years prior to the events of the prequel trilogy. The technology and lore remains the same though, so if you’ve seen the movies, you’ll feel right at home. This might be a good time to go through the original titles, if you’re interested. There are two Knight of the Old Republic titles out there, so check them out at your game retailer when you get the chance.
