Sonic Unleashed is Darker Than Ever

Sonic the Hedgehog games just haven’t been as good as they used to be. Using the speedy blue devil in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is pretty fun and all, but it’s been a while since we’ve had a truly epic and fantastic Sonic adventure game. The Secret Rings was okay, I guess, but it still didn’t hold a candle to the original games. The transition to 3D has not been nice to Sonic.

And I guess he got pretty mad about it. In the teaser trailer shown above, we are treated to our first real glimpse at Sonic Unleashed, a much darker addition to the legendary franchise. There’s no gameplay footage, but it seems pretty clear that they are going for a much more “brooding” atmosphere for this title, compared to the relatively light-hearted mood that you’d find in other Sonic games.
