Sonic is Already In Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

Forget the grain, I’m going to take this story with a whole bucket of salt.

It turns out that Sonic the Hedgehog is already in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the development team has more or less been including the speedy blue furball in their work since day one. The only thing that is holding back any sort of official announcement is that SEGA has not completely authorized the use of Sonic in SSBB yet. Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai revealed in a Spanish interview that they’re just waiting for SEGA’s final approval, which must come before July 26th.

It’s great that they want to expand the Smash Bros. stable beyond what’s directly available from Nintendo — I think the inclusion of Solid Snake is wicked awesome — and it’ll be a lot of fun pitting Mario against Sonic in something other than and Olympic hurdle dash.

Is this story a fake? It could be, and there are many reasons to believe that it is — no confirmation from Nintendo or SEGA regarding this conversation, and the interview was with a very little-known Spanish news source — so we’ll just have to wait and see.
