Smaller, Cheaper PlayStation 3 For the Holiday Season

That’s the current rumor coming out of N4G, which is reporting that Sony may be preparing a 40GB version of the PS3 in time for the holiday season. The American pricing for such a unit could be in the $399 range, meaning that a Canadian one could be had for less than $450.
The PS3 is currently the most expensive of the next generation home gaming consoles and it’s also regarded as being the least successful. Many have said that it is the higher price point that has been holding people back and that Sony simply cannot entire the holiday season with just a $599 (US) bundle available to the public.
As such, they may have a 40GB PS3 for the aforementioned $399, pricing the existing 80-gigger at US$499, representing a $100 cut.
