Simpsons Video Game Parodies Spark Anger

It’s been a while since they’ve created a good video game based on The Simpsons franchise. In fact, I think the only Simpsons game that I ever enjoyed playing was the four-player arcade game. You know, the one where you only had two buttons — attack and jump — and Bart could whack the bad guys with his skateboard?

Well, as you know, Electronic Arts is creating a new video game based on The Simpsons and it aims to poke fun at a wide range of video game franchises, including Grand Theft Auto. Well, apparently not everyone has a healthy sense of humor, because Rockstar Games — among others parodied in the new title — are not happy with being the brunt of the joke.

Lead designer Greg Rizzer says that they’ve had “to pull stuff from the game.” By contrast, Harmonix loves the “Sitar Hero” parody so much that they asked for 20 copies of the poster. The promo poster depicts Apu playing with a 60-button sitar controller.
