Sega Brain Assist for DS… This Sounds Familiar

I realize that some of the most popular games on the Nintendo DS aren’t really games at all. They’re supposed to be unconventional and they’re supposed to draw in players that wouldn’t normally pick up a video game system. I also realize that Brain Age, the game that taught us that it’s pronounced “brew”, was a huge hit for Nintendo, rounding up all the soccer moms and grandpas of the world. Sega doesn’t want to be left behind.
As it turns out, Sega is making a Brain Age-like game of their own and they’re not even trying to be original about it. The game is going to be called Brain Assist, and it’s going to feature a series of mini-games that — you guessed it — are designed to make you smarter, brighter, and sharper. There are ten available games inside the package and you’ll be escorted around by your choice of four nurses. I guess this is where Sega is a bit better than Nintendo, ’cause nurses are way cooler than Dr. Kawashima.
Then again, the color scheme and presentation are a little too reminiscent of Cooking Mama, don’t you think?
