Rumors: Metal Gear Solid IV Will Be On The Xbox 360

XboxFamily is reporting that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming the Xbox 360.

No, the rep will not be named, but this is pretty concrete. Speaking to a Konami rep at an undisclosed distribution meeting, I was told, after a lot of nagging, that yes indeed MGS was in development for the 360. The rep stated that Metal Gear Solid will be released for the Xbox 360 between 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves. This is not a rumor.

You don’t need me to tell you how big a blow this is going to be for Sony and the Playstation 3 if it proves to be true. MGS4 is a huge title, and because it’s a PS3 exclusive, it’s an excellent contender to be the system-seller that Sony is looking for. The only other game that shares that position right now is Final Fantasy XIII.

Sony’s console still lacks that system-selling title that will compel gamers to purchase a PS3. Losing Metal Gear Solid 4′s exclusivity adds another nail to the coffin, following the one driven by Devil May Cry. Still, until an official announcement is made, there’s still hope.
