Rock Band Drums Go Portable

Video game peripherals are getting pretty outrageous these days. If you own a NIntendo Wii, you may find yourself surrounded by accessories for Wii Sports, the Wii Balance Board, a lightsaber attachment, the Wii Wheel, the Wii Zapper, and countless other add-ons. If you’re a rhythm game fan, you may be surrounded by far too many microphones, guitars, and drum sets. There’s just so much clutter and that drum set takes up so much room.

While they may be cross-compatible, you may feel inclined to own drum sets for Rock Band, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Rock Revolution, effectively taking up all the space that would otherwise be occupied by a couch, coffee table, and loveseat. Non-gamers may not be pleased.

That’s why Mad Catz has created a rather creative solution. The Rock Band Portable Drum Kit gives you a drum kit without the stand. You place the pads on any flat surface, and you’ve still got a separate bass pedal too. Pretty cool, but it costs almost as much as the real set: $60. Look for it near the end of next month.
