Rock Band AC/DC Not Eligible for Blockbuster Effect

Even if you don’t own a copy of the first Rock Band for the Xbox 360, it’s not hard to hop over to your local Blockbuster Video to rent a copy and go through the import process to bring (almost) all of those songs into the Rock Band 2 environment. It’s not exactly what Harmonix and EA had in mind, but this has become a very common occurrence ever since we heard that it was possible.
Before you get hopes up about doing the same for AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack, you should know that it will not be possible to do the import process for the AC/DC add-on in the same way for Rock Band 2. Yes, you can do the import, but they’re only letting you do it once per disc. Presumably, the instruction manual (or some other slip of paper) will come with a redemption code that is meant to only be used once. After that, it expires and ceases to work again.
It’s a smart move on the part of EA and Harmonix, but it’s a sad day for people looking to save a few bucks by renting instead of buying. Look for the AC/DC track pack to drop in November.
