Reviews: Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings was finally released this week and Destructoid has a review:
At the end of the day, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is a fine alternative RTS that expands upon an already fantastic universe and one of Final Fantasy’s most compelling stories and casts to date. But while their grip on the gameplay end of things has improved dramatically over Heroes of Mana, Wings makes a few mistakes that keep things a little less strategy and a little more mob slaughter. Look past the shortcomings of the gameplay, however, and you’ll find a limited yet worthy sequel that stands as one of the better RPG/RTS/WTF experiences on the platform.
On a personal note, I am not touching that game until I know where the good weapons are. The original FFXII on the PS2 had all sorts of weapons that you could potentially acquire if you managed to fulfill the conditions needed to earn them. By the time I learned about it, it was too late. I was already past the places where the conditions were supposed to have been met and I wasn’t in the mood to start from scratch. So, there’s the review. If it’s still relevant after a month or two, I might let you guys know how my Revenant Wings experience turned out.
