Reviews: Dementium: The Ward

Joystiq has reviews of Dementium: The Ward, a horror game for the Nintendo DS.

The DS isn’t supposed to do FPS horror right? Those were our initial thoughts too, as you start out in a dark room with a layer of black fog. But as soon as you snag a flashlight (which is immediately), Dementium proves its worth by displaying vast areas, numerous enemies and lengthy corridors with disturbing zeal and no loss in framerate.

Two things: it’s good to see that the horror is intact considering the hardware and it’s even better to know that an indie developer is behind Dementium. Based on the review, what the DS lacks in graphics, the game makes up for in sound. Now, I’m not a fan of the horror genre. My imagination is pretty vivid and that leads to all sorts of dreams and nightmares whenever I see something frightening. I’m not afraid of the onscreen horror itself, I’m afraid of what happens afterwards. Believe me, when you think that the voices in your head have been speaking a little louder over the past two days, it’s time to look at prettier and brighter things. Or maybe take a break from losing sleep over WoW.
