Revies: Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm
CVG has a review of Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War: Soulstorm. As the final chapter of a critically-acclaimed series, does it provide a satisfying conclusion or is it simply milking the cash cow? Excerpts:
Such has been the wait that Soulstorm will suffer from having to compete with its bargain-bin brethren, but for 40,000 fans there is good value for money – certainly more than you’d get should you spend the same sum on paint and blister packs of Warhammer figures.
But with that said, there’s still something special lurking within the series that four years of post-release love have relentlessly polished and Soulstorm is a fitting testament to that fact.
Soulstorm features two new races: the Dark Eldar and the Sisters of Battle. You’ll be wreaking havoc across 31 territories, giving you enough gameplay to make you think twice about which race you prefer. Overall, previous efforts were better, but considering how old the series is, it’s still a worthy conclusion. Playing through the entire game is going to be a challenge, even more so if you intend to use all nine races. Maybe by the time you’re done, Dawn of War 2 could be around the corner.
