Resident Evil 5 Gets Delayed to 2009

If you were planning on doing some more zombie hunting next year, it’s not going to be through a new addition to the Resident Evil franchise. At least not officially. The latest issue of Famitsu is reporting that Resident Evil 5 from Capcom will not be able to get released within the 2008 calendar year, instead being released some time in 2009. This is because RE producer Jun Takeuchi said a “2010 release would be too late.”

There’s no mention of a Wii version of the latest blood splattering title, but Nintendo owners are already wagging their Wii Remotes in front of Resident Evil 4 in hot anticipation of Umbrella Chronicles, which should come out later this year. Resident Evil 5 is slated for release on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

It should also be noted that the storyline for RE5 will follow that of Chris Redfield, who you have met in earlier versions of Resident Evil.
