Real-Time Strategy Awaits: Blizzard Confirms Warcraft 4
Even though it’s been out for a long while now, World of Warcraft is still very popular among the MMO crowd, because it grants you the ability to not only upgrade your character in a variety of ways, but also to participate in quests with fellow Warcraft players from around the world. But that’s not where it started. Blizzard purists will tell you that it’s all about RTS. They may be jumping up and down about Starcraft 2, but what about the next generation of the Warcraft franchise? Where is Warcraft 4?
Well, you can breathe a little easier, because Rob Pardo has confirmed that a new Warcraft RTS (which may or may not be named Warcraft 4) is definitely “on the table.” In his own words:
The way that we develop things, each time a development team becomes available, because they’re done with creating the games that they’ve been doing, they have a lot of say over what their next game is. So what it would take is for one of our teams to decide that they want to make Warcraft RTS and of course, there’ll be some talk about doing that and I’m sure after StarCraft 2 ships, it will be one the ideas on the table for that team to do, but that’s pretty far off in the future and it would really be determined by a combination of the dev team and the company leadership.
The good news is that they know what we want. The bad news is that WC4 is probably “pretty far off in the future.”

I love playing WoW and RPG games online but I love stagery games like Warcraft 3. All my friends and me play it all the time. We also go to Gamerz Arena to play Warcraft 3 together. I beat the game 6 times with out cheating. I think cheating is for losers. I also play starcraft and i think it is ok. I own all Bizzards games because i think there games are fun. Please make Warcraft 4. Lots of people will play it.

Well… I’ve been playing WC2 and 3 for a while… If you observe the huge changes between WC2 and 3, imagine ones between 3 and 4!!! It would be amazing! It would add more playable races and heroes, and probably more lore. This would be an awesome additon to the Warcraft RTS franchise.

I play a LOT of RTS… its definitley my 1st choice of genre (closely followed by RPG)… All Blizzard titles have always satisfied my gaming needs even though they aren’t particularly complex in graphics etc which also gives budget gamers a nice opportunity for some decent gaming… Warcraft III + The Frozen Throne exp. have been my favourite RTS’s of all time since their release back in… err… 2002 i think… bein a severe gamer i usually bore of games rapidly but this one i will ALWAYS go back for just a few more games!!! WC4 is just gonna be awesome… SIMPLE AS!!! make it fast!!!
1 forget warcraft 4… there jus gunna do the same thing they did with starcraft Ghost. ( a starcraft based 1st person shooter) heck…theil probably delete it and make world of starcraft. be prepared for the worst.

i love WOW only because i played all the rts games so i knew what was going on threw out the entire game basically.. but grant credit where credit is due make anther rts/warcraft 4 i am tired of modding my wc3 too have blood elfs, dwarfs, and a whole loota other races and units, it takes too long. so plz wc4 will not be a bad idea to start working on after the realease of the last wow expansion….

how ’bout th Story, Jaina Should be the main hero, and i’d love to see Jaina vs Arthas dueling in front of Dark Portal, then ARthas said “I AM YOUR FATHER” no, kidding… Jaina succesfully freed Arthas from Lich King Influence BUT… by KILLING him, then we enter Hollywood-cliche where Jaina crying and Arthas, while dying said, “Be Strong, Princess, there’s still enemies beyond the Portal…(Dead)” Jaina: NOOOOOO (then she kissed arthas and went through the portal… *_*)

I really hope warcraft 4 does come,i just want to see what happens to the new lich king. i have a lvl 70 human mage in WoW, but WoW is totaly different to Warcraft and if they try to continue the lore using WoW, it will dissapoint Lots of Warcraft fans including me. agree with john pedro, theres too much storyline to mke wc4, sure new rts yippee, but there r already over 20 races, all with HUGE storylines. we’re gna be waiting a long time… around 2014 wen wow starts to die out

The first computer game i ever remember playing. Back to the days of DOS. I loved it and when i got my hands on Warcraft 2 i couldn’t stop playing. (though i was unhappy with being unable to build walls during gameplay) I waited for Warcraft 3 extremely impatiently, and agian for Frozen Throne. (I used the hell out of that map editor)Then, I heard about WOW. I was hyped up for months then got the collecters edition so i could have my mini diablo. I am sorry to say that the rpg didn’t quite hit the spot i needed, plus i missed Battle.net where i didnt have to pay every month. Now I am and have been anxiously awaiting Warcraft 4. HAIL THE BLIZZARD TEAM!!!!

I loved the Warcraft Series, it was awesome, and Wow was the best until BC came out. I hope they make Warcraft 4 but as stated above, they need to make Wow an alternate Timeline because those Lore Charecters cant be killed off, I mean Arthas is bad enough but Malygos, a Dragon Aspect, the most powerful entitys in the Game, other than Old Gods and Titans, thats just killing the Lore

they dont need to add new lore, the campaign can be a repeat of the events that took place in WoW, or it can be set before wow takes place (wow is supposed to take place 10 years after archimonde dies)
wc4 will obviously be big for its online play, not its campaign, as wc3 is now. so what does it matter what they do with the campaign? besides, fighting wow bosses would be fun in wc4, especially since gameplay will be optimized and there will be more unique abilities etc
Warcraft started it all for RTS games, it was the best and IS STILL the best in the biz!
Not sure what is taking Blizzard sooo long to make new products (i.e. Starcraft 2/Diablo 3 etc.) but their customers want new products NOW….not tomorrow.

Well, I dont think they will release a Warcraft 4. But, there is always that possibility that they will. I mean, they are Releasing StarCraft 2 and a lot of us thought that was gone for good.
In the mean time, Blizzard is trying to perfect World of Warcraft and probably have no time right now to work on Warcraft 4 when wow is at its highest peak. So, just keep hoping that it will be released. If it is realeased, it will probably come out in about 5-8 years from now. Just dont get your hopes up quite yet
Warcraft 3 is my favourite game and I’m eager for the fourth to come out. I would like a worldedit manual, and mabey even improving world edit so we can go beyong just tampering with it, and lots of new heroes and mabey even a new race would be awsome.

Every damn race teams on Arthas, scourge dies, Arthas PKs everyone but the main chars, (Thrall, Jaina, Sylvannas..etc) and Arthas dies, Burning legion rules once more…will fall again in Wc5(maybe)

Sean White talks like a 3 year old, and WoW is kinda shitty compared to newer MMO’s (WAR, LOTRO, GW2) however, warcraft 4 might turn out as well as W3, as long as they don’t use the screwed up story in WoW, possibly the wierdest story (or collection of junk) I’ve ever heard.
to fuck with wow strategy games are the best. hope wc4 comes out soon but it takes a lot of work to be done but it`s worth waiting for.
i think you should make warcraft 4 a RTS, becuase on the expansion wc3 frozen throne is where arthas becomes the Lk. I know that WoW wrath of the Lk is already where arthas turns into him. i think it will be better to make wc4 a RTS with the forsaken, Scarlet crusade….and those sort of things. since i promise that more than 500 people are gonna really want to play it..BLIZZARD RULES!!!!
i acherly agree with a`extra race, like already mentioned the scarlet crusade, of how Saiden tricks renault into killing Alexandros mograin(ashbringer) and Balnazzar coming into form and that sort of direction, and maybe that the trolls summon the dark god hakka??

Like all of you seem to, I love the warcraft franchise. From the rudimentary First game where you couldnt even use your mouse to order troops about (had to use hotkeys…boy was that a pain…) all the way up to warcraft 3 tft. However, when WoW first came around… I wasn’t sure what to think. WoW Itself is a good game, but there are so many ways it could’ve been better, or at least more loyal to it’s RTS roots. But as far as I’m concerned, Warcraft 4 will not, or should not exist… How can you even continue from the horrifying Mindfuck that is now Warcraft lore. First of all, my main point of fury is Blizzard’s infamous “Reconstructions” of their stories. It has gotten to a point of ridiculousness that when i look at the WoW Wikipedia and my age old Warcraft 1 Instruction book… i must now admit that half of what i read in my old instruction book…IS WRONG!!!! The reconstructions have gotten to such a point of ridiculousness that they had to try to make Doomhammer look noble, but in the Warcraft 2 Instruction book, it describes him as a blood thirsty power monger who was paranoid about betrayal since he betrayed and killed Blackhand the Destroyer.
Not only that, but what’s with all this insanity about Death Knights. The Original death knights were…..SHOCK AND AWE….DEAD PEOPLE!!! NO WAY. Not only that, but they were also imbued with the souls of the Old Shadow Council under Gul’Dan. You know, the Orc Warlock who kicked total ass and pretty much ruled the Horde before Doomhammer. Not only that, but where did all the old Death Knights go anyways? Bah,I wonder how Blizzard is going to manage to rework their absurd story now. Are they going to just wave World of Warcraft away and say “Oh, sorry, that never happened” and just continue where they left off with Frozen Throne…and not only that… but if they do try to go from World of Warcraft…aren’t players allowed to kill Arthas….so….thus hes dead….and there is no story…. anyways…ive ranted for long enough.

Making a Warcraft 4 will have to be a huge accomplishment for it to keep up to its previously AMAZING versions like Warcraft 3 FT. However, it is possible and this world is turning into a gaming zone. Games are getting more and more popular and more and more realistic. Blizzard. You are amazing, keep up the crazy work. Blizzard is no longer what it used to be. Just look at wow, how unoriginal it is, how it adds nothing substantial to the lore and every new “expansion” is based on the wc3 campaign. F***, they just ruin stuff because of superficial reasons. Look what happened to those draenei from the blood elf campaign, just because some fanboys on the forums wanted to play the eredar. It seems that the art developers’ minds are incapable of creating anything new, original or interesting and bend the lore for gameplay and aesthetic purposes. No, the people at blizzard are no longer special. Their brains are full of greed.

mmmh i like starcraft so much its published in 1996 till now that game still pwns! i know they maybe still or i dont know but surely the graphics of new warcraft is different just think warcraft 3 is 1996 graphics but cool but blizzard is different now there are many fans of blizzard if wow is truly #1 game in the world then blizzard entertainment is the toppest but they should make more games

I’ve learned some simple 3-D and I am learning more on it.
I have started a GDD (Game Design Document) for Warcraft 4, and it should be done by around mid-Feburary.
At that time I will send it to Activision-Blizzard and hopefully they will take notice of it.

BUT… It must be at least as good as Warcraft 3. You must be able to have just as many Custom Game abilities… It’s mostly about DotA anyway. People still play DotA.

Thinking it from Blizzards way, i’d say that they’d release a WC4 around the same time as a relevant WoW expansion, that keeps the 2 games in the same lore. WC4 would probably play the time between the old WoW mode and the new post-4th war WoW. Soooo… It’d be hard work for Blizz to make the 2 games match and thus… 2 games… In the same time frame, mayby they’d make WC4 first, then a WoW expansion detailing it happening, I don’t know… I don’t care… JUST MAKE WARCRAFT 4!!

Warcraft, The frozen throne was what actually inspired me to play Warcraft the MMO. I was not new to RTS games, I do enjoy them but WC3 TFT just drew me in completely, the beauty of the game, the importance of the characters, the lore…. it, of course was just a game but its content and ideals were beyond what any game has offered me in my entire life, the characters were beleivable and they meant something to the story, the story felt like it mattered.
WoW the MMO game has deeply saddened me as to what it has done to the story, and these amazing ideas by whoever person thought up all of this sotrytelling in the original WC RTS games. I am in a high-end guild, defeating LK felt so empty, the ending they gave the greatest and most importantly IDENTIFiABLE character in a game left a bad taste in my mouth, all the game has done is left me wanting to play the old RTS game that felt so right, I play the MMO because it lets me extend the story which I so yearn an ending for…..the ending I received was not why i played. Please redeem this, please bring back the importance of WC and the depth it had….please bring back Warcraft and restore it to what it was.

StarCraft 2 is a good game but honestly speaking it didn’t really exite me as much as the Warcraft 3 and it has great gameplay and graphics, instead of starcraft if another expansion of warcraft 3 had been released I would have bought it for sure… and I love to see the Warcraft 4, please make Warcraft 4 as the first preference game to be made by Blizzard, i really love that game
