Puzzle Quest Sequel Announced
D3Publisher, the company behind the hybrid title Puzzle Quest, has announced that it is working on a sequel to its popular title. Called Galactrix, the game will shift from Puzzle Quest’s medieval fantasy setting and jump to space. Ars Technica has the hands-on.
Huge corporations are taking over space, and they have begun to do terrible experiments on people. There will be diplomacy between the different factions, and there will be ship-building, as well as the ability to buy blueprints for new ships. Commerce and trading will be a big part of game play as you try to build up a large fleet of ships.
All this will remain tied to the main puzzle game of lining up three tiles to make them disappear, except now the tile effects have been expanded from the first title: line up three blues and you get more shielding for your ship, yellow tiles will increase the power to your engines, and so on.
Expect the game later this year, on PC, Xbox Live Arcade and the Nintendo DS.
