Preview: Demigod
Gas Powered Games is working on a new title called Demigod and according to the preview, it’s shaping up to be similar to the popular WarCraft III map Defense of the Ancients. You control a demigod, form an army of minions and then try to wrest control from the other demigods that stand in your way.
The only thing you control in the game is your chosen demigod. Minions simply follow you as you move around. You won’t be able to issue commands to them. The preview describes it as a mix of WarCraft and Diablo, making it a strategy game mixed with RPG elements. On paper, it’s actually pretty exciting to read.
The premise reminds me of Sacrifice, although you didn’t really play a god—or a demigod, for that matter—in that game. But all that text about gods, minions and wreaking havoc on equally divine opponents is reminiscent of what Sacrifice did. Let’s just hope Demigod does better than the last game Gas Powered Games released.
