Pokemon Snap Arrives On Wii Virtual Console With Extra Feature

The Wii Virtual Console offers all sorts of nostalgia, but you don’t have to reach that far into the past to discover this gem. I’m not a big fan of the Pokemon franchise myself, but I thought that Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo 64 was a very innovative title, because it was completely non-violent. At the same time, it offered the same thrills as a regular on-rails first-person shooter.

Pokemon Snap is available on the VC as of today, granting a whole new generation of Pokemon fanatics the opportunity to, er, take pictures of pokemon in their natural environment. It’s a single-player game that goes for 1000 Wii Points, but the Virtual Console version offers one extra tidbit over the original. You are able to send your in-game photos to Wii Friends.

The feature itself isn’t terribly exciting, but it does show that Nintendo is willing to add stuff to VC titles. The other new VC titles today are Baseball Stars 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points) and Ghosts ‘n Goblins (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points).
