Paramount Wants to Publish Games Too
Paramount is already one of the biggest movie studios on the planet, but they’re not satisfied with getting you into theatres and getting you to buy DVDs. Paramount has now indicated that they will be expanding their “interactive department” with a particular focus on mobile, handheld and casual games. This is instead of, you know, making real games for real consoles.
The cell phone game market is exploding, as is the casual game market. Paramount was to capitalize on this growth, because both of those types of games are relatively cheap to produce and could prove to be a real cash cow for the movie studio. Better still, because they already own all sorts of trademarks to movie franchises, they could spin them off with tie-in games. People love characters and storylines that they already recognize right?
