…Or Maybe At Least Think About It
I did not intend this to be a two-parter, but here it is. WoWInsider takes a long, piercing look at the Dell WoW laptop and answers the question we wanted to ask: is it worth it? Here are the figures:
- Computer: $2749
- Blu-ray: $200
- Customization: $150
- Desktops and screensavers: Free
- Backpack: $41
- Copies of the game…: $140 (depending on how you get the CE pets)
- … with patches installed: Free
- Warcraft III battlechest: $40
- Strategy guides: $35
- TCG stuff: $16
- Novels: $16
- Beta key club card: $20 (depending on how much you like BlizzCon)
- Figureprints character: $115
- Total: $3522
- Dell price: $4,499
- Amount you’d save by buying all of this stuff by yourself: $977
Keep in mind that you’re also paying for the convenience to bring WoW wherever you go, including your addons, macros and other customizations. Of course, you have to make sure your destination has an available Internet connection. Is the convenience worth the additional $1000?
