Nyko PS3 Wireless Guitar Goes Both Ways

If you own an Xbox 360, this has not been a problem for you. For owners of Guitar Hero III and Rock Band on the PlayStation 3, however, the big stinker is that the guitars that come packaged with their respective games don’t play friendly with the other game. An axe from GH3 won’t work with Rock Band, so you’re left having to buy two complete sets instead of just using one set for both games.

That has now been fixed and it’s not a first-party rectification. Instead, it’s over at CES 2008 that Nyko is showcasing their solution: a wireless guitar for the PS3 that will work with both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It works via a toggle switch, so you can use one guitar for two games. It’s got all the functions you need like a whammy bar and effects switch for Rock Band. It’s not ready yet — that’s a “working prototype” up there — but they’ll have it in retail outlets by the end of the March.
