Nintendo Wii: Just What the Doctor Ordered

The Nintendo Wii has been a huge success, and a big part of this success has been because of its wide-reaching appeal. Even grandma is getting in on the action. The latest place where you will find Nintendo’s motion sensitive machine is within the US Army.
No, playing Red Steel isn’t exactly a replacement for military training, but they are using the Wii as a supplement to physical therapy. According to Army Spc. Shawn Roberts, who was injured in a car accident in Kuwait last year, “You know, it’s a video game. How much could it really do? But you don’t notice it while you’re doing it because your mind’s on the game. But then when you’re done? I was sore.”
The kicker is that “it’s mandatory for them to play. It’s their doctor’s orders that every week they engage in playing with the Wii. We need a doctor like that, who could write us prescriptions for 10 hours of Mario Party 8 or an hour of Wii Sports every 4 hours.”
