New Releases: Castlevania & Disgaea

I do not have a PSP yet, but the recent releases of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and my ever-favorite Disgaea has convinced me to get one ASAP. Now, if you’re like me, then the only reason you’re going to get the former is because of Symphony of the Night. Apparently, it’s locked by default, requiring you to go through a bit of Rondo of Blood before getting the goods that is Symphony of the Night.

What makes it so special? Up to this day, I still think that it’s the best iteration of Castlevania. The old-school side-scroll-platforming combined with the RPG elements made it good, but it was the added spellcasting that really made it great. Also, don’t be fooled by Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. You’ll be spending entire days leveling your characters to get their stats right. And you’ll be doing that not because you have to, but because you want to. The potential of achieving greater power is what makes Disgaea so alluring.
