New Phoenix Wright Spinoff Announced: Perfect Prosecutor

Fans of the Phoenix Wright will be happy to note that a spinoff is in the works and it’s starring familiar characters. Rival and friend Miles Edgeworth and bumbling but lovable detective Dick Gumshoe will be getting their share of the spotlight with Gyakuten Kenji vs Gyakuten Saiban (Perfect Prosecutor).

From what we can ascertain from the new scan that recently popped up in Famitsu, Perfect Prosecutor places you in the role of the prosecutor and has you after familar faces such as Miles Edgeworth and Dick Gumshoe (which might be the greatest names for supporting chararcters in a game ever.) Edgeworth seems to be combing crime scenes for possible missed evidence. Also, new detective mechanics will be introduced, which ought to please many a fan of the original series.

One of the new gameplay changes is that the game will feature walking. I know that it sounds silly, but previous titles featured instantaneous transport that simply involved clicking on your destination. I’m not sure how big a difference the new walking mechanic will do, but as long as it contributes to the investigative experience, I don’t care how silly it is.

There’s no word on pricing or release dates yet, so we’ll keep our eyes open.
