Multi-Touch Gaming Table Prototype Developed
If the Surface becomes a hit, and I mean really becomes a hit, then you can be sure that a multi-touch gaming system isn’t going to be too far behind. Sure, it’s going to take a couple of years to streamline the technology, but you can imagine the implications. Strategy buffs will be in heaven: they’ll finally be able to take command of their armies using their fingers, literally wielding power at the palm of their hands. Card-battle games will become more like their real-life counterparts: you’ve got the table, the simulated cards and will be making the same motions you’ll do using real cards.
Taking a step forward to that goal is a multi-touch game called Oculusia. Here are the details:
This is a video of a game called Oculusia, created by a group of University students at the Aalborg University Copenhagen as part of their bachelor thesis. The game involves protecting sea sponges along the sides of the table from the one-eyed boss in the center by shooting at it, using a deflection paddle to defend the sponges from the boss attacks as well as other players’ missed shots.
So, what do you think? Do you see a multi-touch table occupying space in your house?
