Metal Slug Goes To The DS

I’ve always been fond of the Metal Slug series. The run and gun gameplay, powerful weaponry and distinctive cartoon looks combine to make an experience that’s both fun and funny at the same time. SNK Playmore is going to take that winning formula and take it to the DS. Shooting enemy soldiers by the hundreds just went portable.

The game’s goal will be the same as always. Either alone or with a friend in co-op, you shoot at a continual stream of enemies in order to reach the end of a level. In the levels you’ll collect weapons upgrades and “metal slug” vehicles that can be used not only as weapons but also as added defense. Once at the end you’ll face a huge boss. In Metal Slug 7 a new “combat school” mode will be added, where you’ll take on various missions and earn ranks as you complete them.

There’s no release date yet, but I’ve certainly got my eye on this one.
