Mega Man Turns 20

Mega Man turns 20 this week, and Platformers.Net has an article about the history of the franchise.

The Mega Man series has had several dozens of entries, all the way from the NES to the Nintendo DS and PSP. Ever since 1987, the Blue Bomber has been saving the world from mad scientists, crazed revolutionary despots, savage computer viruses, menacing alien empires and more on just about every video game console. As part of our look over this gaming legacy, let us review the various incarnations Mega Man has seen over the years.

You can read the source link for the rest of the article. As a matter of personal preference, I like the X series the best, mainly because of the item- and armor-hunting. The PSP remake of the original Mega Man X, Maverick Hunter X, introduced the villain Vile as a playable character, which added new dimensions to familiar territory.

20 years is a lifetime for any franchise, so props to Capcom, series creator Keiji Inafune and the Blue Bomber himself. Stealing weapons from your enemies has never been so good.
