Mega Man 9 Revealed, Goes Back To 8-Bit

Before he became X, before all the drama involving Reploids and Mavericks, before Zero, he was just Mega Man. It’s been more than a couple of years since we last saw the Blue Bomber without the X as a suffix, so it was refreshing news to hear that he’s back in his old school roots. Speaking of old school, not only is he going back to the series that made him popular, he’s also downgrading everything else. Mega Man is going back to 8-bit.

In the most unexpected and totally awesome-filled news of the day, GamesRadar has put up its hands-on with the WiiWare-bound Mega Man 9, and guess what — it’s going to be an 8-bit game!

Highlights from the article include: Splash Woman (the first ever female boss character), Dr. Light’s shop making an appearance, and the fact that some of Mega Man 9′s music is taken straight out of Mega Man 2.

So, is it a hit or miss? Are you looking forward to the title or do you think it’s a major step backwards by going 8-bit? I’m still undecided on this one.
