Mario Kart Wii Launches April 27

I’m still pretty busy trying to unlock all the characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but it seems like I’m going to get treated to even more Mario-themed goodness next month. Nintendo of America has formally announced that Mario Kart Wii will be shipping to North American retailers this April with the official launch date getting set for April 27.
Previous reports pointed toward a May debut, but I guess the game is just about ready to go. Why get us to wait on pins and needles, right? “Mario Kart for Wii transforms one of our most popular franchises into a race that every member of the family can enjoy,” said Cammie Dunaway, NOA’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Driving with the Wii Wheel could not be more natural, and this is one place where speeding is encouraged.”
Like Smash Bros, Mario Kart Wii will probably have multiple control schemes, just in case us die-hard enthusiasts prefer the wiggling of an analog stick. The online multiplayer — 12 racers at the same time — sounds awfully attractive.
