Larson Leaves Gamespot
Do you still go to Gamespot? I still do, but I avoid the reviews section. It occurred to me earlier today that I’ve become less dependent on game reviews ever since the website came under fire over the whole Gerstmann thing. Nearly a year later, we have the latest installment: the man identified as the catalyst behind the entire ordeal has left Gamespot.
Josh Larson, who was brought into the site’s management after Greg Cassavan left, has left the site in exchange for the title of VP of Business Development at in-game advertiser Double Fusion. According to the company’s site, Larson’s new duties include being “responsible for building a network of core games through partnerships with game publishers, developers and first party platforms in North America and Europe.”
So there you have it, possibly the final chapter in the saga that literally rocked a portion of the gaming industry. Sure, there’s an ongoing debate as to whether video game journalists and reviewers are actually part of the industry, part it’s a pretty close-knit community when you think about it. Is this really the end of it all? We’ll keep you posted.
