Tomb Raider: Underworld sold 500,000 copies less of what Eidos was expecting, so the company has been thinking of ways to spark some new interest in its struggling heroine. The solution to the problem may surprise you, so read on.

In the face of falling sales, Eidos is looking at yet another reinvention of Lara Croft in a bid to rekindle the popularity of the Tomb Raider franchise.

In order to do this, Eidos is considering a more “female-friendly” approach to the company’s most popular series, and may well reinvent everything about it from the way it looks to the way it plays.

Note that Tomb Raider was already recently reinvented with Tomb Raider: Legend. They followed the design changes with Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Now Eidos wants to go through the process again. How does one recreate gaming’s number one sex symbol into something more female-friendly? It’s going to require more than a face lift to make that happen.
