Kids Play Games, Pets Left in the Cold
![]() |
When you have rocking titles like The Sims, Nintendogs, and World of Warcraft, it really shouldn’t be all that surprising that all the kids are playing plenty of video games these days. The apparent victim in all of this, though, is that children aren’t so interested in pets anymore. DS Fanboy is reporting that Kersti Seksel, the Australian Veterinary Association President, “thinks that video games were the major factor in reduced pet ownership numbers in the country this year.” Kids are playing games, rather than throwing the frisbee around with Fido.
I’m all for a well-rounded lifestyle — I have a pet bunny that I love very much — so I don’t see how the two necessarily interfere with one another. I get in a good session of Elebits and then I go frolicking in the yard with Roy the bunny. Seksel begs to differ. What do you think?
