Impressions: Luminous Arc
Here are my impressions of Luminous Arc, a new tactical RPG from Atlus, for the Nintendo DS:
- As you can expect from isometric turn-based strategy RPGs, the gameplay is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. That means combat, and plenty of it. Since this is an Atlus title, you can expect a little variety when it comes to battle.
- The touchscreen controls feel a little clunky. It’s unresponsive and a bit inaccurate. Thankfully, you can switch to using the D-Pad instead. The downside is that you can’t combine both controls, so you either go with the stylus or you don’t. In my experience, it’s the first DS title with touchscreen issues.
- The text scrolls too slowly for my tastes, and you can’t skip the story sequences. Bottom line: anything involving reading becomes a boring experience.
That’s it for now. You can view our previous coverage of Luminous Arc here.
