Impressions: Fallout 3 VS Oblivion
“Oblivion with guns”—that’s how detractors of Fallout 3 have called the game, probably just a few of the names and phrases they’ve come up with to describe how the latest title from Bethesda is going to come out. Does the comparison stand? Kotaku took a dive with the hands-on and found out. Here’s the conclusion:
So there you have it: a game that has as much in common with Fallout as it does with Oblivion. For some, the balance might not feel 50-50 all of the time (especially if you reject the notion of “evolution” in gaming) – but for me, it suits rather well.
Note that the guy playing it hasn’t played Fallout 1 and 2 but he has played Oblivion. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but it’s useful to know because it’ll give us an idea of where he’s coming from. Frankly, I’m going to get the game regardless of how close it is to Oblivion. Mark October 28, people. We’ll all be happily walking through a nuclear wasteland by then.
