Guitar Hero to Become Violin Hero?
Well, not exactly, but industry analysts are predicting that the Guitar Hero franchise will be expanding beyond the axe, “adding additional musical peripherals in calendar year 08.”
The reason why analyst firm Janco believes that this is the “natural product evolution” for Guitar Hero is that the franchise needs to compete against the upcoming Rock Band game being produced by MTV and former Guitar Hero-producing Harmonix. In Rock Band, you can get together with a group of friends to have a real jam session: one person on guitar, another on bass, yet another on drums, and finally the last on the mic for vocals.
It’s not entirely clear which instruments Activision may bring to the table for this expansion, but then you’ve got to assume that the “Guitar Hero” name would have to be changed slightly to accommodate, oh I don’t know, a violin or something.
