Guitar Hero: Metallica Official for March ’09

“Exit light! Enter night! Take my hand… off to Never Never Land!”

Easily one of the best songs found in the first Rock Band was Enter Sandman by Metallica. That’s why it was a little sad when he heard that the Rock Band 2 track import feature would not include this song as part of the package due to licensing issues. We were a little peeved, but we’re about to be vindicated with an onslaught of Metallica awesomeness.

Rumors have been swirling for what seems like forever, but Guitar Hero: Metallica has officially been announced. Alan Flores of Neversoft was joined by Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich of Metallica when they sat down to chat with USA Today, they confirmed that GH:M is very much for real.

The story in the game, if you care at all, is that players “are members of a band that tours with Metallica, covering its songs at different venues.” Neversoft said that they couldn’t follow Metallica’s career chronologically, because their early work would be far too difficult. Not that they’ve toned down on the difficulty, because Flores says it’ll be “a lot harder” than previous Guitar Hero games.

Based on my experience with Enter Sandman, I have a feeling I’m going to pwn myself again. Look for GH: Metallica next March-ish.
